Our Emergency Services and City Services teams are working hard on the clean-up.
As we have all seen, the hails stones shredded extensive amounts of leaf litter and shrub foliage and the clean-up has focused on clearing this debris. Twenty City Services teams and crews of up to eight people per team - including street sweeping, city presentation and tree crews - have been responding to callouts in our affected communities across the city. These City Services teams are continuing to undertake extensive clean-up works in the worst affected areas.
Please be patient. These teams are often undertaking strenuous and difficult work. Please slow down if driving by - and give your thanks if you see them. It matters.
Visual assessments of areas impacted are being undertaken and any dangerous areas are being remediated and made safe. If you see any areas or locations that require immediate attention, particularly footpaths and bike paths, please report these through Access Canberra on 13 22 81.
PLEASE do not sweep your leaf litter or debris into the drains because this is a major cause of water pollution. I have had many people ask me whether another green bin collection will be arranged and I'm hoping to get a response on this today (Wednesday).
