Federal Government needs to respect ACT laws

October 22, 2019

🙅‍♀️ The federal Government needs to keep its hands off the ACT's right to determine our own laws 🙅‍♂️

That's the overwhelming feedback across Australia from a recent Roy Morgan survey. Across EVERY age group, clear majorities are against the federal Government stepping in and overturning the recently passed laws around cannabis.

According to Roy Morgan CEO Michele Levine: “As well as reflecting changing community attitudes to the drug, this result shows Australians are hesitant about Federal Government intervention in the affairs of other jurisdictions such as the ACT."

The federal Government needs to respect these views.

Not only should it not intervene in our laws, it should right the wrongs where it's intervened in the past. This means overturning federal legislation so that the ACT and NT can determine our own laws with respect to voluntary assisted dying.

Here's the Roy Morgan press release.
