It's a Park, Not a Paddock

November 29, 2018

The NSW Government has been absolutely reckless in its decision to allow feral horses free rein (so to speak) in Kosciuszko National Park. Horses breed quickly, putting enormous pressure on the environment, including critical habitats and water catchments. And while we might know where the border is, horses don't care. There is real risk they might end up in Namadgi National Park. Save Kosci is an extraordinary protest with people giving up their time to walk from Sydney to Mt Kosciuszko to raise awareness of just how serious this is. They've had very hot days, very rainy days and very windy days but their spirit is undeterred. I joined them last month in Queanbeyan for a (very) small part of the walk.
