Work this month will commence to signalise the intersection of Beissel Street and Emu Bank.
From Tuesday 17 March, Emu Bank - including the intersection at Beissel Street - will be closed between Luxton Street and Benjamin Way. There will be no access to or from Beissel Street from Emu Bank for approximately six weeks.
Vehicle access to local properties and businesses on Beissel Street and Evelyn Parker Place will be from the Joynton Smith Drive intersection only.
The signalisation of this intersection was required as part of the development application approval for Cirrus. Traffic studies recommended the signalisation to improve safety for all road users, including pedestrians. Turning movements and pedestrian movements will be improved by the signalisation.
Once operational, the lights will be coordinated with the other signalised intersections at Luxton Street and Benjamin Way to ensure the continued flow of traffic for all road users, including pedestrians and cyclists.
Access to Beissel Street will be reinstated at Emu Bank once the works are completed.
Businesses in the area are being doorknocked and Beissel Street residents will receive a letterbox drop.
