It was a special morning at Lake Burley Griffin yesterday as Canberrans came together for the NF Mega Hero March. NF stands for Neurofibromatosis - a genetic condition where tumours can grow on the skin but also under the skin, sometimes targeting nerve endings, the spinal cord and brain. There is no cure.
I was proud to serve as its Ambassador yesterday. The Mega Hero idea was chosen to represent the powers of adults and children with NF and gives the power of freedom, courage and determination to help conquer NF.
We got to wear capes!
Congratulations to Carey and Brian for organising and especially to Cam Elliott for raising the most amount of money - agreeing to carry 1kg in his backpack for every $100 he raised. Cam ended up carrying 66kgs over 10 kilometres.
