Reducing Gambling Harm

August 30, 2017

In legislation passed last week, the ACT Government has restricted EFTPOS cash withdrawals. These laws will assist in reducing gambling harm at clubs following growing community concern and an Access Canberra investigation regarding access to unlimited cash in clubs.
EFTPOS cash withdrawals will be limited to $200 per transaction, must be made at a single point in a club outside the gaming area, and all stages of the withdrawal must involve human interaction with a trained staff member.
Clubs have until this Friday to comply with the new requirements.
Patrons will continue to be able to access EFTPOS to pay for food, beverages and other club services
