ACT households and businesses continue to have some of the lowest cost and most reliable electricity in the country - and regulated electricity prices in the ACT will see an average price decrease of 2.56 per cent from 1 July 2020.
If ActewAGL passes through the full price decrease, it will see a decrease of about $43 on the annual electricity bill of the average ACT household for 2020-21. For businesses the decrease will range from $66 to $265.
The increase in renewables generation is responsible for a significant portion of the decrease in electricity prices.
The Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission has also recommended that retailers regularly notify their customers if they have a better offer, and to ask customers to call them for information and assistance with switching.
