STEPping into work at the National Arboretum

Last week I had the pleasure of joining volunteers at the Southern Tablelands Ecosystem Park (STEP) at the National Arboretum Canberra.

As suggested by the name, the forest reflects the trees and plants typical of the Southern Tablelands. Working bees are held every Thursday. STEP recently celebrated 10 years of plantings and earlier this year the volunteers won the Volunteering ACT Volunteer Team of the Year!

Despite the very dry conditions, it's a lovely time of year to visit with many different plants in bloom - and Christmas beetles everywhere! STEP is located behind the major car park. This page is updated regularly with what you can hope to see of interest during your visit:
