The Early Morning Centre

January 30, 2019

This morning I spent some time at the Early Morning Centre on Northbourne, getting a better understanding about what they do and all the services they provide for people who are at risk of or are experiencing homelessness as well as those experiencing social isolation. In addition to breakfast and lunch each weekday in a cafe with table service, there are:

  • Doctor visits every Wednesday 9am-11am
  • Optometrist visits Thursdays at 9am
  • Computer lessons every Thursday at 11am
  • Arts and crafts every Friday at 9.30am
  • Choir every Friday at 11.30am
  • Vet visits at 2pm on the first Sunday of every month through Pets In The Park
  • Regular visits from support and connection services like OneLink

Guests can also shower, get hair cuts, use the free computers and use the Centre as a mailing address.
It's all made possible thanks to partners like OzHarvest Canberra, GIVIT - Goods For Good Causes, and Rainbow Paws Program - and importantly the incredible staff and more than 45 volunteers.
See all the events on their excellent Facebook page.
