Upcoming changes to Transport Canberra timetable

June 16, 2020

There will be a significant Transport Canberra timetable update from 18 July.

Some changes for Belconnen include:

  • Rapid 2 will run every 15 minutes from 6am to 11pm weekdays. Selected services will also go via the railway station.
  • Every Rapid 4 heading to Woden will continue on to Tuggeranong.
  • In addition to Rapid 8 from Gungahlin to Belconnen, there will be routes 23 from Gungahlin via Palmerston, Crace, Giralang and Kaleen to Belconnen, and 24 from Gungalin via Nicholls and McKellar, along William Webb Drive to Belconnen.
  • Rapid 9 between Belconnen Town Centre and Dickson will be four minutes faster in each direction.
  • Route 32 between Belconnen Town Centre and the City via Macquarie, Cook and Aranda will have extra services, including a bus every 10 minutes during busy times. There will be four extra services before 9am.
  • Route 41 will change its route to be nine minutes faster from Charnwood, Fraser, Flynn and Melba. It will turn south onto Copland Drive instead of continuing through Evatt and McKellar. Passengers who used used 41 from Evatt or McKellar will be able to use the Rapid 3, route 43 or route 24 (along William Webb Drive).
  • Route 43 will continue to run the same route through McKellar.
  • Route 901 will replace the existing Bruce Shuttle, providing passengers with a regular loop from Belconnen Town Centre to Calvary Hospital, via CIT Bruce.

Even if there aren't major changes on your route, there will almost definitely be timetable adjustments. You can get check them out here.

There will be 692 more services delivered on weekdays across Canberra as a result of these changes. There are 803 drivers on board to ensure these services will be delivered, with more driver training on the way.

The ACT Government’s advice still remains the same about public transport, which is to avoid travel in peak times. However, this update will assist in supporting those who need to use public transport.
