Remonstrance

August 16, 2018

What do we do when our rights are taken away?
We stand up and fight back.

That’s what we did today.
For the first time in its history, the ACT Assembly passed a remonstrance motion. This is a motion which condemns what another parliament has done. In this case, what the Senate has done by refusing to restore the rights to the Territories.
Our grievances with the Senate will now be formally delivered to it and are expected to be tabled in the Senate.
Here’s what I said in support of the remonstrance today.
This isn't over.
