Ginninderra comprises most of Belconnen, including Bruce, Aranda, Cook, Macquarie, Belconnen Town Centre, Weetangera, Hawker, Page, Scullin, Florey, Higgins, Holt, Latham, Melba, Spence, Flynn, Fraser, Charnwood, Macgregor, Dunlop, McKellar, Lawson, Evatt, Macnamara and Strathnairn.
‘Ginninderra’ is derived from an Aboriginal word that means “sparkling like the stars”. It is the name of our beautiful lake, and the creek that flows through the heart of Belconnen. We are lucky to live nestled amongst breathtaking natural beauty that you can easily immerse yourself in: Aranda bushlands, Mt Painter, the Pinnacle behind Weetangera and Hawker, Mt Rogers, Mt Goodwin, Shepherd's Lookout and Lake Ginninderra (to name a few). Maintaining and preserving these spaces is important to Tara.
Like most of Canberra, Ginninderra has an ageing population and a growing population. Key issues facing the electorate include ensuring we’ve got the right infrastructure in place to support us – from a range of affordable and high quality housing options, to high quality transport no matter what method you use – and remaining inclusive and connected, both physically and socially.
Tara has made her home in the Belconnen Town Centre and is working hard to achieve the best outcomes for Ginninderra.
