With summer (finally) here, there is so much beauty in the everyday. I'd love to see your best pictures of what summer in Belconnen means to you. 

It's simple: take a photo in Belconnen with the theme of SUMMER in any way you interpret it. This is open to all ages, with one prize awarded for those under 16 years of age and under and one prize awarded for those 17 years of age and older.

The photo must be taken between Wednesday 21 December 2022 and 19 January 2023. Entries close at 10pm on Thursday 19 January 2023. 

Each person can enter a maximum of three photos. Entrants must live in a suburb with a postcode of 2614, 2615 or 2617.

Voting will be open for each category via Facebook from Friday 20 January 2023 to 11.59pm Friday 27 January 2023. The winners will be announced on Saturday 28 January 2023.

The winner of each prize (under 16 years of age; and 17 years of age and older) will be determined through Facebook by most number of likes, positive reactions, and positive comments on each photo. Each winning entry will receive a prize to the value of $200 to be redeemed at a local Belconnen restaurant of the winner's choice.

To enter, send the image/s by e-mail to [email protected] as a JPEG file. Title the subject  SUMMER PHOTO COMPETITION.

Be sure to include in the email your (being the entrant’s):

• Name
• Phone number
• Suburb and postcode
• Title or description of the image/s
• Whether you are entering the competition for under 16s or over
• If 16 of under, a parental or guardian consent form (available below)  

To participate, your images must not:

• Include people
• Include anything that may reasonably reveal a residential address

Emails should be no more than 9MB in size. You can send multiple emails.

Terms and Conditions:

The promoter is Ms Tara Cheyne MLA. Prizes are gifted by the promoter. Entries to the competition may be shortlisted by the promoter and the promoter’s decision with regard to shortlisting is final. Entries will be published alongside their title or description on Facebook (entrant names will not be published with the image). The winning entries will be determined via like or positive reaction count. One winning entry will be chosen for each category. The promoter reserves the right to expand the method by which voting occurs.

You will continue to own the copyright of your image(s). By submitting images to the competition, you (or, if aged 16 or under, your parents or guardian) grant the promoter a non-exclusive, royalty free, irrevocable licence to publish the image(s) on any website or other publication owned by the promoter, including any social media pages controlled by the promoter. You permit the promoter to reformat your image(s) for the purpose of publication.

The image(s) you submit must be your own, original work. You (or, if you are aged 16 or under, your parent or guardian) warrant that the image you submit does not and will not infringe the right, including intellectual property rights, of a third party. You (or, if you are aged 16 or under, your parent or guardian) indemnify the promoter in respect of any breach of the foregoing warranty. The promoter reserves the right to refuse entry to images which the promoter deems to be inappropriate or any image which includes a person or people; anything that may reasonably reveal a residential address; or which appears to have been taken as a result of non-essential travel.

Any image entered by a person aged 16 or under without an accompanying parent or guardian consent form will not be accepted.

Your personal information is collected by the promoter and may be used by the promoter to contact you. You need to live in a postcode being 2614, 2615 or 2617 to enter. You can enter a maximum three different photos. A photo cannot be entered into multiple categories.

Winners will be announced on Saturday 28 January 2023. Winners will be notified by email or phone call from the promoter.
